Bischof's Fly Fishing

John Day River | Wild West Steelhead

with host Jeff Bright

North central Oregon's John Day River exists in a world apart. Undammed and free from hatchery influence, it and its summer-run steelhead are emblemmatic of wilder times in the western U.S. That both exist today in relatively pristine condition — the John Day is said to have the healthiest wild steelhead population of all Columbia tributaries — is miraculous. That a trip such as this well-run, four-day float-and-camp is available is truly fortunate. • • • Great fly water, aggressive fish, abundant wildlife and spectacular scenary make for a great wilderness experience.
